At our house we happen to think that finger painting is fun for any age. Pretty pictures? Check! Messy fun? Check! It’s a great indoor project for when the weather outside is less than perfect and when we want the creativity to flow. You can make finger paints with simple items found in your kitchen pantry. For coloring, you can follow the natural dye ideas for homemade Play Dough or you can use natural food coloring.

These finger paints will wash off fingers easily. If your child is gluten-free, replace the regular flour in this recipe with an all-purpose gluten-free blend. It’s not something they need to eat, but at least you can feel safe knowing that if a finger finds its way into a mouth, your little one will be all right.
